Confession: I am a huge nerd. Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Superman, Disney, Harry Potter…I am a fan of all of them and more. The list goes on and on. I just adore science fiction, fantasy, and animation. I think the appeal for me is the amount of creative talent and imagination that goes into these particular genres. There is also something about nerds themselves that I find endearing, and not just because I consider myself to be one. The amount of enthusiasm they can have for the things they love—in a way, it's very inspiring.
I may be a nerd, but, really, isn't everyone? You might not be planning your next trip to Comic-Con or tuning into the latest season of Doctor Who, but we can all find SOMETHING to obsess about just a little (or a lot) more than most other people do. For me, it’s the act of creating—whether it be crafts, food, art, or fantastical stories—that I "geek out" over. My guess is that if you’re reading this blog, you’re at least a bit of craft nerd yourself. I hope my passion for the things I love and make shows through in these blog posts, and I hope they inspire you to keep on adding your own fun, tasty, wonderful, and whimsical creations to this beautiful world in which we live.

P.S. Here's a round-up of some of my geekiest crafty creations. Descriptions and links (when applicable) are below.

**UPDATE 10/11/15**
As it so happens, on this week when I'm focusing on geek crafts, I was asked to knit this Captain America sweater for an 18-month boy. I modified it from a pattern for an adult-sized version (link to that pattern, created by Beth Kluckhohn, can be found HERE).
